The Mannenzaal Amersfoort
The Mannenzaal - Men's Ward, built in 1536, is part of the more than 600-year-old St. Pieters en Bloklands Gasthuis. With its 22 original box beds, the hall is a rare example of the history of social care in Europe.
Stories come to life
The Men's Ward is not a stage set; it tells a story. The 22 original box beds have been made up. The oak furniture bears traces of daily use. You walk through a room that has remained almost unchanged since 1536. Here you can experience how care was organised throughout the ages. You will discover where the men slept, lived and spent their days. In a specially prepared box bed, you can try out for yourself how comfortable such a sleeping place actually is.

The Chapel
Next to the Men's Ward is the medieval Chapel, built in 1490. Today, it provides a backdrop for special gatherings. Exhibitions and activities are organised here. Outside opening hours, it can be used for your party, performance or event.

Visitor Information
This is the only medieval guest house in the Netherlands that has been preserved, including its interior. Here, you can still imagine how the residents must have lived. Initially, the guest house was only intended for the sick. Later, it became a guest house with separate sections for women and men. The Men's Ward and Chapel of the St. Pieters- en Blokland Guest House were already in use in the 15th and 16th centuries.

Public transport: From Amersfoort Central Station, take city bus 1, 2, 3, 4, or 7. Get off at the Stadhuis stop. From there, it's about a 5-minute walk via Molenstraat and Westsingel.
Prefer to walk? The distance from the station is 1.2 km (approximately 14 minutes).
Note: Amersfoort's city center is car-free. Parking is available nearby at the Stadhuisplein parking garage and the St-Jorisplein parking garage.
