Visitor Terms and Conditions for the Mannenzaal

Valid from 1 April 2026
These visitor terms and conditions apply to all visitors to the Mannenzaal.
The Mannenzaal is operated in collaboration with Museum Amersfoort.

The Mannenzaal will do everything within its power to ensure that visits are safe, pleasant and
well-organised. This includes protecting the listed building, the
collection and other visitors.

1. Definitions and applicability

1.1 ‘The Mannenzaal’ refers to the organisation responsible for
the management, opening and operation of the Mannenzaal, including
staff, volunteers, security personnel and other persons acting on behalf of the organisation
.
1.2 “Visitor” means any person who enters the Mannenzaal or attends an
event organised by the Mannenzaal.
1.3 These visitor terms and conditions apply to any agreement between the
Mannenzaal and a visitor.
1.4 Any deviating arrangements are only valid if confirmed in writing.

2. Admission and tickets

2.1 Visitors require a valid admission ticket.
2.2 The admission ticket must be presented during the visit upon request by
staff.
2.3 An admission ticket is valid only on the stated date and time.
2.4 The ticket loses its validity upon leaving the Mannenzaal.
2.5 Tickets will not be exchanged or refunded, except where the Mannenzaal decides
to cancel the visit in whole or in part, or where there are statutory
obligations to provide a refund.
2.6 The Mannenzaal may refuse entry to visitors in the event of:
• disruption of order;
• aggressive behaviour;
• visible intoxication;
• use of intoxicating substances;
• refusal to follow staff instructions;
• situations where the safety of visitors, staff or the collection is at risk

3. Conduct in the Mannenzaal

3.1 Visitors must behave with care and respect towards other visitors,
staff and the monument.
3.2 Visitors must follow staff instructions immediately.
3.3 The Mannenzaal is a fragile monument dating from 1531. It is prohibited to:
• touch historical objects, box beds, display cases or presentation materials,
unless expressly permitted;
• to lean against objects or walls;
• to run or behave in a disruptive manner;
• to enter areas that are not accessible to the public.
3.4 Parents, carers, teachers and group leaders are responsible for the
behaviour of the people in their care.
3.5 Children up to and including the age of 12 may only visit the Mannenzaal when accompanied
by an adult.

4. Safety and security

4.1 Staff may ask visitors to open coats, bags or other items they have brought with them
where this is necessary for the safety of visitors,
staff or the collection.
4.2 Dangerous objects, weapons, narcotics or other items that pose a risk
to visitors or the collection are prohibited.
4.3 In emergency situations, visitors must immediately follow instructions from staff or
emergency services.
4.4 De Mannenzaal may decide to temporarily close areas for reasons of safety,
crowding, maintenance or emergencies.

5. Bags, cloakroom and personal belongings

5.1 Large bags, rucksacks, umbrellas and large baby carriers are not permitted in the
exhibition areas.
5.2 Small handbags up to A4 size may be brought inside.
5.3 De Mannenzaal may ask visitors to leave items at the cloakroom or
reception desk.
5.4 Leaving belongings behind is at your own risk.
5.5 The Mannenzaal is not liable for the loss, theft or damage of
personal belongings, unless caused by wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

6. Food, drink and smoking

6.1 Food and drink are not permitted in the Mannenzaal, unless prior permission
has been granted.
6.2 Smoking, including electronic cigarettes and vapes, is not permitted inside the
building.

7. Animals

7.1 Pets are not permitted.
7.2 Guide dogs and assistance dogs are welcome, unless this is temporarily not possible due to safety, the fragility
of the venue or conservation requirements.

8. Photography, filming and media

8.1 Photography and filming for private use are permitted, unless otherwise indicated.
8.2 The use of flash, tripods, selfie sticks, additional lighting or professional
recording equipment is not permitted without prior written consent.
8.3 Visual material created in the Mannenzaal may not be used commercially
without written permission.
8.4 During visits, activities or events, photographs or video recordings may be
taken for promotional purposes by the Mannenzaal and/or Museum Amersfoort.
Visitors who object to this may inform a member of staff.

9. Accessibility

9.1 The Mannenzaal is located in a listed building. Consequently, not all
areas are fully accessible to visitors with reduced mobility.
9.2 The Mannenzaal does its utmost, within reasonable limits, to make the visit
accessible to as many visitors as possible.
9.3 Visitors who are unable to move around the Mannenzaal independently may
bring one accompanying person free of charge.

10. Disturbances, disruptions and closure

10.1 The Mannenzaal cannot guarantee that all rooms, installations or exhibitions
will always be available.
10.2 Temporary disruption caused by maintenance, crowds, technical faults, or the setting up or dismantling
of exhibitions does not entitle visitors to compensation.
10.3 In the event of emergencies, evacuations or other exceptional circumstances, the Mannenzaal
may ask visitors to leave the building immediately.

11. Liability

11.1 Visits to the Mannenzaal are at your own risk.
11.2 The Mannenzaal is liable only for direct damage that is the
direct result of wilful misconduct or gross negligence on the part of the organisation or its
staff.
11.3 The Mannenzaal is not liable for:
• indirect damage;
• consequential damage;
• loss of income;
• damage caused by other visitors;
• damage resulting from failure to follow instructions given by staff.
11.4 Damage or incidents must be reported immediately to a member of staff and no later than
before leaving the Mannenzaal.

12. Damage caused by visitors

12.1 Visitors are liable for any damage they cause to the building, the
collection, fixtures and fittings or other property of the Mannenzaal.
12.2 Parents, carers, teachers and group leaders are jointly responsible for
damage caused by minors or groups under their supervision.

13. Lost property

13.1 Lost property may be handed in at the reception desk.
13.2 The Mannenzaal will hold lost property for a maximum of six months.
13.3 Valuables, identity documents and driving licences may be
handed over to the local council or the police.

14. Privacy

14.1 Visitors’ personal data is processed in accordance with the applicable
data protection legislation (GDPR).

15. Complaints

15.1 Complaints regarding the visit may be submitted in writing via:
info@museumflehite.nl
15.2 Complaints will be dealt with within a reasonable period of time.

16. Applicable law

16.1 These terms and conditions for visitors are governed by Dutch law.
16.2 Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the district of
Midden-Nederland.

These terms and conditions for visitors have been adopted by the management of Museum Amersfoort
and apply to visits to the Mannenzaal.
